gm. Olszówka, pow. kolski, woj. wielkopolskie The village was settled by the Dutch at the beginning of the 19th century. Banachów is a linear village located to the north of Dąbie and to the west of Umień. Homesteads stretch mainly on the eastern side of a dirt road running through the village longitudinally. The cultural landscape characteristic of the Dutch colonization has been transformed. No examples of traditional architecture related to the settlers are present with an exception of a church (devastated) located near the cemetery. The colonists' cemetery has survived in the southern section of the village, on the eastern side of the road. The church is located on the eastern side of the dirt road, facing it with the ridge. The church was probably erected ca 1920. The building has not been used and is in bad condition. The church is made of limestone and brick (window and door surrounds); the building has no roof. The walls are plastered inside. The main entrance to the building is located on the southern side and leads to the nave. A narrower hall and a vestry (with a separate entrance) are adjacent to the northern side of the nave. An inscription in Gothic script is located on the granite header: "Kommt last uns anbeten". |
