gm. Grabów, pow. łęczycki, woj. łódzkie

Janów was a gentry village (owned by Józef Olszewski) colonized by the Dutch settlers before 1790. In 1790, the village had 4 houses. In 1827, the village had 14 houses and 86 residents. In 1882, it had 20 houses and 124 residents.

Janów is a small linear village located to the northwest of Grabowo. Homesteads stretch mainly on the northern side of a dirt road running through the village latitudinally.

The cultural landscape characteristic of the Dutch colonization is in good condition. Planted willow trees and draining canals are detectable. No examples of traditional architecture associated with the settlers are present. The colonists’ cemetery has survived; it is located south of the main road.

The cemetery is situated in a young forest and is entirely overgrown with bushes. Grave mounds(?) and a fragment of a dilapidated cement gravestone (no inscriptions) are detectable.
