Stobna used to be a Slavic and Prussian village. It was mentioned in 1293 (Stupa) and received a charter in 1353. In 1820, it had 320 residents, including 9 Mennonites. The cultural landscape is in good condition. Homestead layouts are preserved with modern farming buildings erected in accordance with the historical angular or longitudinal layouts. On the northern bank, there are 6 angular, 4 longitudinal, and 2 cross-shaped homesteads, while on the southern bank - 2 angular and 3 longitudinal homesteads. The majority of the historical buildings have been preserved with 10 wooden buildings, including 7 bricked buildings, 4 masonry buildings, one entire longitudinal homestead from the beginning of the 20th century, an old school from the beginning of the 20th century, and 5 granaries (4 wooden and 1 brick). Modern buildings are few. Cobble stone surfaces of the roads and traditional rows of willows are in good condition. A field layout and a system of draining canals are detectable in the northern and southern sections of the village. No. 12 is a building from an old Dutch homestead (a cowshed
and a barn - demolished) situated in the western section of the village,
on the northern river bank. It dates from the 2nd quarter of the 19th
century. The building has a log structure with quoins covered by boards, a
half-timbered, vertically boarded southern gable, and a brick fire wall on
the northern side. The gable elevation has 3 axes with two windows
enclosed by narrow, rectangular windows bound by semicircular shapes
(lower part) and two similar windows above. The eastern elevation has 6
axes with an entrance enclosed by two windows (3rd axis from the north).
The building still has frame - panel shutters and decoratively carved
ceiling beam ends supporting the top plate. Lipińska t. III, poz. 178; AG . |
