The village of Czekaj used to be an inn situated among the forests. It was settled by the Hollander colonists at the beginning of the 19th century. In 1882 it was composed of 20 homesteads (7-15 morgas each), created as a result of enfranchisement of the Biernacice estate.

Linear, medium size village situated latitudinally, with the majority of homesteads located on the northern side of the road.
